Managing Director
André Wermelinger studied electronicall engineering at Winterthur Technical College, graduating in microcomputer technology and control engineering. While already working he also did postgraduate studies in business administration, at the International Institute of Management in Technology (iimt). After a long period of project management he now works as a lean management expert in a leading telecommunications enterprise.
As a judicial observer he is intrigued by nature’s core principles, how they are implemented, and how this impacts today’s society and environment. He feels a particular responsibility for sustainability.
Like most of us, André Wermelinger started beekeeping with the aim of producing honey. However, after just a few hours’ reading up on how to go about it, he realised that the way humans intervene in the life of bee colonies in order to extract honey was actually perverse. So, for his own bees he changed to near-natural beekeeping, not necessarily wanting to harvest any honey. And his practical experiments have confirmed his initial insights. These days he is able to demonstrate that honey production can go along with an increase in the bees’ ecological well-being, thus optimising both economy and ecology in the long term, and in a sustainable way.
Today his passion is the continuous improving of processes, systems, and incentives both in his working environment and in his private life. André Wermelinger is an initiator and founding member of the organisation FREETHEBEES.
