Conference in German from 19:00 to 20:00, then in French from 20:15 to 21:15
Description: That there should be one “good beekeeping practice” is clearly and unambiguously refutable. The challenges of our time require from beekeepers and beekeepers much more a differentiated and wise approach to bees. And it is precisely for this purpose that the FreeTheBees beekeeping methodology was developed in 2012/13. The developer of the methodology uses concrete examples to explain how it is to be understood and applied. A central conceptual core of FreeTheBees, an important methodological basis for all beekeepers. For the first time, one’s own handling of the bees can be clearly determined and assigned on an intensity scale. For the first time, it is possible to transform one’s own management method in a targeted and evidence-based manner in the direction of more intensity or also more ecology and sustainability. For the first time, scientific studies can also be classified and differentiated in terms of intensity. There is no right and no wrong! A professional beekeeper, for example, who wants to feed his family, cannot avoid a certain degree of intensity in dealing with his bees. A hobby beekeeper, on the other hand, can pay much more attention to species justice, ecology and sustainability in his dealings with the bees.
Bio: André Wermelinger was the founding president of FreeTheBees and now holds the role of managing director. His professional background as an electrical engineer and lean manager (process optimisation, continuous improvement, business development) help him to look at value chains of any kind and make them more effective and efficient. Beekeeping, too, is nothing other than a value chain. Instead of focusing exclusively on honey yields, as is the case today, beekeeping must learn to also ensure the long-term survival of the species, to guarantee its natural evolution and to integrate species justice and sustainability into the way it operates. André Wermelinger has never been satisfied with superficialities. He is oriented towards visible and measurable target results and wants to look behind the scene. He tries to avoid fighting the symptoms as much as possible; his interest is in remedying the causes.
