I want to restore a piece of nature for the bees.
Give back their habitat to the bees
The first and direct cause for bee mortality is their loss of habitat. This comprises two main aspects:
- Lack of food variety
- Lack of nesting facilities
All of us can do something for the bee where food variety is concerned. Be this with so-called seed bombs in a playful guerrilla mode, on the balcony or window sill with flowering herbs or with a bigger contribution on one’s own plot of land. Here we show you the plants with the biggest positive impact on bees that there is a shortage of.
There are no more old, thick, hollowed-out trees available for the honeybee to nest in. Without nesting facilities, the bee cannot reproduce in nature. Here we show you how all of us can return a piece of habitat to the bees with passive nesting aids, so-called honeybee hotels.
If you want to provide nesting facilities to feral bees we are happy to refer you to our colleagues, the feral bee specialists.
