Discussion on the Sculptured Resin Bee (Megachile sculpturalis), a bee species that was accidentally introduced to Europe and now a potential risk to native pollinators. Questions that will be addressed:
• Concerns of beekeepers and conservationists: will this species affect honey bees and native solitary bees?
• Resource implications: could the presence of Megachile sculpturalis limit floral resources for other pollinators?
• Community involvement: how can beekeepers, farmers, and the public participate in monitoring?
• Monitoring methodology: research protocol and its applicability to other invasive species such as the Asian yellow-legged hornet (Vespa velutina).
